  • All students must take a minimum of 120 credits (approximately 40 courses). Thirty credits must be taken at UMass Boston. Also, some departments require that a minimum number of courses in the major be taken at UMass Boston.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, calculated only from UMass Boston courses, is required by the university. Some majors require a specific average in courses taken toward the major; see the major department for more information.
  • Your course of study will lead to either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. BA and BS requirements differ somewhat.
  • Some of the courses you choose will fulfill more than one requirement.
