Department Mission
Student Support Services Provides advising and academic support to 500 low income, first generation undergraduates.
Talent Search/Project REACH Talent Search identifies and serves disadvantaged young people who have the potential for education at the post-secondary level and encourages them to continue and graduate from secondary school and enroll in programs of post-secondary education. High school and post-secondary dropouts are also encouraged and assisted in returning to school. Talent Search is one of only a handful programs nationwide that focus on students with disabilities and students receiving special education services: Upward Bound.
Upward Bound Upward Bound is an intensive, year-round academic program whose mission is to assist low-income, first-generation college bound high school students in the successful completion of secondary education and to prepare them for higher education. This is accomplished by providing participants with rigorous and nurturing academic courses; tutoring services; college-preparatory workshops; academic, college, and financial aid advising; career exploration; and cultural enrichment during the academic year and an intensive six-week summer residential program.

Urban Scholars Program Urban Scholars provides talented and gifted middle and high school students-especially those from low income and minority backgrounds-with the resources to enter and successfully complete post-secondary education. To this end, the program offers advanced courses, workshops, tutoring, and cultural activities after-school during the academic year and during an intensive seven-week summer institute.
